Tips for starters, the wonderful world of Credit Consultancy and … mothers-in-law?

Have you just graduated and are you looking for a challenging start to your career? Discover the world of consultancy and credit management at Triple A Solutions! In this blog, we dive into the experiences of our colleagues Anila, Lennert, and Caroline. They share their unique stories about what it means to work at Triple A.

How do you explain to your mother-in-law what you do?

Anila: I work in a billing and invoicing department; if there is a problem with an invoice, I make sure it gets resolved. I am now head of the department, so I mainly handle difficult files and coach and support the team.

Lennert: That’s always difficult for me; Process Manager sounds very vague. I always say that I contribute to various back-office processes in the energy sector. I ensure that all administration runs smoothly.

Caroline: I perform credit analyses, which basically means assessing the financial health of companies so my client knows exactly who they are doing business with. It’s always interesting, of course, to have a look around and peek into a company’s financial data.

Why did you choose consulting?

Lennert: Given my specific experience and expertise, I have been working with the same client for a while now, at the request of both parties. I can contribute a lot within my team and still find it incredibly fascinating and educational. The desire for change will probably come from myself eventually, and then I know that Triple A can help me look for a new challenge.

What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job and which achievement are you most proud of?

Anila: When I started my career, I didn’t see myself as a coach or manager at all. I was really drawn to numbers and saw myself working more behind the scenes, but that has completely changed. By gaining different experiences, I have fully blossomed in that role, and now I mainly guide others; I take them under my wing and try to pass on my knowledge and support them where necessary. So, I’ve gone in a completely different direction than I expected, and I’m very happy about that.

Lennert: The analytical part—searching for errors and flaws in the big picture and then solving them. I know that finding that needle in the haystack can really make a difference for many people. This way, I often solve problems for clients that have been dragging on for a very long time.
For example, at the end of 2021, there was a major shift among the various players in the energy market, and all stakeholders began communicating differently with each other. I was part of the team that tested and optimized all these new communication channels and programs. I was on the front line of that major transition process, and we successfully completed the implementation; I work in all those programs now!

Have you already attended many Triple A team events?

Anila: We once went sheep herding with the team—talk about original! I try to attend as many Triple A Solutions events as possible; they are always unique experiences and just great fun with colleagues.

Lennert: I always look forward to the annual Strategic Meeting, the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Those events really help to remove any reservations between colleagues. I have some experience now, so I automatically take new Triple A starters under my wing.

Caroline: I will soon have been working for Triple A Solutions for 2 years, and they have really flown by. It feels like I’m going from event to event. I’m having a blast and have truly made friends for life. Chasing sheep, clay pigeon shooting, having a good shout with colleagues at the VR after-work event—it just makes working fun.

What is the ultimate tip you can give to recent graduates?

Caroline: I would take every training course available and repeat them every so often. Even if you might already know a lot, it’s always useful to have a refresher. And instructor Marleen is just a top-notch woman! Finally, a woman in the financial world you can look up to.

Lennert: Get to know your potential new employer as well as possible beforehand. Not only does that make a good impression during interviews, but it’s also especially important for yourself to determine whether or not you see yourself working there.

Anila: I would say, above all, be open to everything. You can’t expect to land your dream job right from the start; you have to work hard for it. Use the learning experience that consultancy can offer and broaden your knowledge and skills by working in different sectors.
