It&#8217;s not degrees, media attention, or major cases that ensure sustainable growth, but years of delivering consistent work and building trust with clients. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasizes that success rarely comes &#8220;suddenly.&#8221; Behind every well-known firm lie years of sacrifice, long working days, and the continuous monitoring of quality. Trust grows slowly but can vanish in an instant when standards are not kept high enough.  <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTrust arrives on foot but leaves on horseback.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For entrepreneurs, this lesson is relatable. Reputation does not stem from marketing alone, but from daily execution, correct communication, and consistently delivering what you promise. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aaa.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/5-1-1024x256.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3144\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Running a good firm requires more than professional expertise<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being a strong lawyer does not automatically mean you can build a strong firm. Damen speaks remarkably openly about cash flow, invoicing, and structure\u2014themes that many professionals pay too little attention to. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He admits that many law firms are legally strong but work with surprising financial amateurism. Following up on invoicing, making clear agreements, and setting boundaries with clients are, in his view, essential for sustainable growth. <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou can be an incredibly good lawyer. But if you don&#8217;t invoice, you won&#8217;t survive.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, he believes a successful firm is also about people management. It&#8217;s not just legal knowledge that counts, but primarily work ethic, resilience, and social skills. His focus during job interviews is therefore remarkably often on what candidates have done outside of their studies.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aaa.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/6-1-1024x256.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3145\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Criminal law is ultimately about people<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although criminal law often seems technically and legally complex, Damen believes it is essentially about human situations. Behind every case are emotions, stress, and personal stories\u2014for both victims and suspects. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes communication crucial. According to him, a criminal defense lawyer doesn&#8217;t just sell legal knowledge, but primarily trust at moments when people are under extreme pressure. That is why he also looks for employees with high emotional intelligence and the ability to deal with all layers of society.  <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn criminal law, you don&#8217;t sell legal knowledge. You sell trust under extreme stress.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This human approach is also reflected in his vision of providing advice.
